After returning from mahalaxmi temple my eyes caught a giant wheel in a funfair. My heart gave a jolt of cheer. I always liked fun-n-fairs especially for great rides in giant wheel. You may call me a kid, which I would happily accept as a compliment.
What is so exciting about fun-n-fair? May be the name itself unfolds its gist. In my school days I never missed it, come what may... The world is so colourful and cheerful out there... Joyous rides and exciting games made me forget the History teacher and homework too! What else can a kid expect? The Magician's stall added to my delight! Watching him pull out a rabbit from a hat out of nowhere, making all 52 cards same! And after learning that, it always gave me something to boast about in class the next day!
So the giant wheel took me 10 years back to my school days! So without wasting much time, I got into a queue and bought a ticket. And during the time I was waiting for my turn for a ride, I saw 4 boys pleading with ticket master for a free ride. I was keeping an eye on what was going on there.
Finally my turn arrived and I took my seat. Now I waited for the giant wheel to start it's magic. Two of those four boys sat in front of me. Their cloths were slightly torn and soiled. Though neatly dressed. I think they were staying on some footpath nearby. And finally the wheel started rotating. There was sudden vaccum in my stomach and some wobbling sensation as the wheel took us high. And as it brought us down we started screamng our lungs out. It was hard to guess, who was the kid here!
The panorama up there was breathtaking. I was closest to the sky then anyone else in the whole city at that point of time. It was a starry night. Full of small embedded sparkling diamonds. The moon was shining to it's fullest. The voluntary and involuntary lurch of the lights of the cars down below illuminated the road. I was just inbetween them. It was more than just beautiful, it was almost a spiritual moment. Reality weaved its intricate illusions but I, for once, was unaffected. I was an outsider looking in. The best state to enjoy the life to it's fullest!
But then suddenly something hit me harder than anything else ever had! Starry eyes! Four of them. They were more beautiful than the stars. I wondered, when was the last time I saw such beautiful eyes! There was something deep. Maybe it was aftermath. As in, the life at that moment was same for all three of us, enjoying the moment. The only difference was our past and future! It was a point where three circles intersected each other. One of the highest node of life.
And then I started thinking, whats next? At that moment we were more than just three people on a giant wheel. Something had erased all the differences which society had painstakingly set up. But soon the giant wheel will turn and we would descend back into the throes of society. What then? Atop the wheel it was as if life had started anew, a clean slate. We all had a chance to live life the way we wanted. But will harsh reality foster such ambigous notions? Will life ever treat us the way the wheel did? Or they will start their life again as street-children?
The only solution according to me was that the wheel should never stop... Those starry eyes...
